BoA will be joining her fellow SMTown family members Kangta, TVXQ!, Girls Generation, Super Junior, Shinee, and f(x) in New York City at the Madison Square Garden on the 23rd of October. This will mark the second SMTown LIVE held in the states. Last year, SMTown performed at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California to thousands of SMTown fans!

Tickets for the New York City performance go on sale on September 9th at 10am and the prices vary from $44.50 to $204.50.

The judges for the upcoming SBS “Survival Auditions KPOP Star” hosted by the three biggest music entertainment agencies, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment, has been revealed. The global audition project will have SM Entertainment’s BoA Kwon, JYP Entertainment’s Park Jinyoung (JYP), and YG Entertainment Yang Hyunsuk. They will represent one of the strongest judging lineup South Korea has had thus far for an audition show.

BoA was one of the many Kpop artists that headed the Hallyu Wave and is well-known for her strong dancing and vocals. She has been in the Korean entertainment industry for 11 years as of August 25th and has grown into one of the biggest stars Asia has ever seen. She is also one of the Korean artists that first had success overseas, especially Japan. The producers of KPOP Star said, “BoA is a true world star who was the first Korean idol to make Korea’s name known to the world…We’re looking forward to her appearance on the show since she is considered ‘standard’ of Kpop stars. She is able to give commentary as a singer who has actually been on stage, different from the other who will be talking from a producers point of view.”

SBS “Survival Auditions KPOP Star” is a survival audition program in which contestants will be judged through their singing and dancing abilities. The winner will receive cash prize and an exclusive contract with one of the three major agencies, in which they will release their debut album through. SBS is currently taking applications for the preliminary rounds on their website.

The official press conference for SBS “Survival Auditions KPOP Star” will be held on September 2nd and will begin broadcasting on December 2011.

SM Entertainment Discovers Kwon Boa In 1998, Kwon Soon-hwon auditioned for SM Entertainment and was accompanied by his little sister, Kwon Boa. Even though it was Soon-hwon who auditioned, the SM talent scouts took notice of little 11 year old Boa instead. Although BoA’s parents had originally declined the offer from SM Entertainment, Boa’s brothers persuaded their parents into allowing their little girl leave school to train for two years in vocals, dance, and Japanese.

BoA Debuts in South Korea Ten years ago, on this very day (August 25th, 2000), BoA released her first album called ID; Peace B, under her stage name BoA. From that day on, she would be known as BoA, the “Beat Of Angel”. Her 1st album sold around 156,000 units and had successfully entered the Top 10 album charts. On March 7, 2001, BoA released her first Mini-Album Don’t Start Now, selling around 90,000 units. She then took a hiatus from the Korean music scene to further solidify her Japanese skills to prepare for her debut into the Japanese market.

BoA Enters the Japanese Market Two years after her Korean debut, SM Entertainment made a deal with Avex Trax, one of the biggest labels in Japan, who at the time, had contracts with Ayumi Hamasaki and Koda Kumi. On May 30, 2001, BoA debuted in Japan with her first single, the Japanese version of her Korean debut song, ID; Peace B. She reached the Top 20 on the Oricon Chart (similar to the Billboards Chart in the U.S.). Her fourth Japanese single, Listen To My Heart was BoA’s first single to enter the Oricon Chart’s Top 5.

Almost a year after her debut, BoA released her first Japanese album, Listen To My Heart, and became the first Korean artist to reach #1 on the Oricon Chart despite the tension during the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which was hosted by both South Korea and Japan. The album was a breakthrough for BoA’s career and sold 230,590 units. Listen To My Heart placed 12th on the 2002 yearly chart and managed to stay on the Oricon Charts for 91 weeks. This album also marked BoA’s first time contributing in her albums with writing and composing.

Best of Asia, Bring it on America On September 2, 2008, SM Entertainment announced that BoA would be making her debut in America through SM’s USA branch, SM Entertainment USA. Eight days after the announcement, SM Entertainment held a conference to give further details concerning her debut. Eat You Up became BoA’s first U.S. single and was produced by Thomas Troelsen.** BoA released two other singles accompanied with music videos, I Did It For Love and Energetic.

On March 17, 2009, BoA released her first full length, self-titled U.S. album, BoA, which contained 11 tracks, including Eat You Up. On August 31, 2009, a repackage of the album (BoA DELUXE)was released with two new tracks and a radio edited version of Energetic.

PRESENT: Making a Comeback in Korea After 5 Years BoA’s last full length Korean album was released in 2005 with Girls On Top, in which she won Best Female Solo and Bonsang at the MNet KM Music Festival (MKMF) Awards. On March 1st, SM Entertainment announced BoA’s 5 years awaited Korean comeback for her 10th anniversary. Her 6th Korean album Hurricane Venus was released on August 5th and quickly topped the Korean charts. She has sold 56,516 units to date and is the 6th highest album sold for 2010, behind her fellow SM peers, Super Junior, SHINee, and Girls’ Generation.

CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY 10TH ANNIVERSARY, BOA! Throughout these long 10 years, BoA has given us beautiful music and amazed us with her beauty, her personality, her kindness, her talent, and more. For some, she has changed lives through her music, for others, inspired and encouraged them to do more and to not lose hope. While 10 years is a long time for an artist, BoA is still young and we hope she brings us another 10 years of wonderful music in the future.

SM Entertainment has been releasing repackages of their artists’ albums for the past few years, so it comes to no surprise that BoA’s 6th album, Hurricane Venus, will also have a repackage album! BoA was recently a guest on Park So Hyun’s ‘Love Game’ radio program where she stated herself that she will indeed release a repackaged album that will include new tracks! Not only that, but there will be a whole new photo shoot for it! So, if you haven’t purchased BoA’s album yet or if you were waiting for a repackaged release, make sure you get your copy!

In addition, BoA also said that she will perform LET ME at the upcoming SM Town Concert! The first stop of the World Tour is tomorrow in Seoul, Korea! BoA’s comeback to Korea has been successful with her 1st win on Music Bank’s K-Charts this past Friday. With the support of her fans, Hurricane Venus has managed to constantly stay #1 in album sales on the Hanteo charts. But she’s not only getting support from her fans, but her family at SM Entertainment as well!

SHINee has already taken several pictures with BoA backstage, posing with stances from each others choreography. Heechul from Super Junior is known to be a very good friend of BoA’s and he can also be seen doing the “V” from the Hurricane Venus choreography. Recently, it’s been reported that SNSD members Yoona, Sooyoung, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Jessica, and Sunny visited BoA’s waiting room on this week’s Music Bank to congratulate her on her comeback. Because of schedule conflicts, they could not be present during her first week of comebacks and stated, “As expected, it was a great performance. Unnie is the best!”

SM Entertainment’s representative said, “Due to filming, SNSD was in Thailand and just arrived in Korea this morning. As soon as they arrived, they went straight to Music Bank and monitored BoA’s performance.”

SNSD members Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun could not make it with the rest of their group to congratulate BoA due to their busy schedules.

In random news, while it has been reported that BoA, Siwon (Super Junior), and Heechul (Super Junior) are close, BoA and Eunhyuk (Super Junior) has expressed on his twitter that they are awkward with each other, despite being in the company for so long. BoA’s reply was that she wanted to get to know Eunhyuk more and decided to go with “Let’s Get Closer Project” via twitter. Then again, this means Eunhyuk needs to visit his twitter more as he isn’t a regular visitor or BoA will throw out another teasing comment. “Also, the reason that I just can’t get along with Eunhyuk-sshi!!!! He doesn’t Twitter-reply ke ke.”

BoA and Eunhyuk, we hope that “Let’s Get Closer Project” via Twitter will help the awkwardness! You can practically feel it through the ‘Kiss the Radio’ pictures! Get closer please!

With her first round of comeback performances over, BoA is back again this week for round two! Tonight, she was up against DJ DOC for 1st place on Music Bank’s K-Chart. DJ DOC has been doing very well in terms of digital charts, however; they were no match for BoA this time around with her winning 1st place for Hurricane Venus!! DJ DOC members pretended to be upset for losing the #1 place again. One pretended to “take” BoA’s award and flower bouquet, while another pretended to throw a fit for laughs. When it was time to perform an encore, BoA’s backup dancers surprised her by picking her up and throwing her in the air! BoA’s only reaction was to scream with surprise.

Tomorrow night will be the Music Core Sokcho Special and there is no awards given out. Inkigayo will air Sunday, August 15th at 4PM KST. Will she be able to make this a double win for this weekend? Congratulations BoA!

We previously announced that BoA will star in a U.S. dance flick with filming beginning in early 2011. Now, it has been announced that BoA will make a special appearance in one of the most anticipated upcoming dramas of the year, ATHENA: Goddess of War. The drama is a spin-off of IRIS, one of the biggest, most expensive and popular drama of 2009. With IRIS getting great feedback, ATHENA: Goddess of War is expected to do the same. BoA will join fellow SM artist Choi Siwon of Super Junior, who has also been cast as a permanent character. ATHENA: Goddess of War is scheduled to broadcast in November. Hopefully, it will live up to IRIS, which had an average rating of 31.9% nationwide.

Update: It has been revealed that BoA will play a singer performing on stage, when she is taken hostage by terrorists and will be aided by character Jung Woo. She will shoot her scene for the drama sometimes this month.

In other news, TVDaily has written an article about BoA and Kim Heechul of Super Junior, showing off their close friendship. It’s no secret how close the two are, with fans seeing them tweet each other all day long. BoA recently appeared his radio show, ‘Kim Heechul’s Young Street’ as a guest on August 9th. A picture of Heechul looking at her affectionately was revealed on her twitter with a caption saying, “Taking pictures of each other during Young Street.” Heechul also revealed a picture of BoA on his own twitter saying, “Let’s take photos of each other during the radio broadcast.”

Apparently, the two had been very close friends since his trainee days. BoA entered SM Entertainment at the age of 11 and released her first Korean album in 2000. Heechul was discovered through the Starlight Casting System October in 2002.

In regards to the photos, there have been replies such as “I’m really jealous of their close friendship” and “Take photos of each other often and upload them.”

Many BoAjjang members have been expressing their desires for BoA to appear on the many variety shows Korea has to offer, such as Strong Heart or Star King. For those not familiar with Korea’s variety shows, Strong Heart is “an intense talk show with 25 of Korea’s top stars. The last celebrity who survives the heated discussions will be crowned the winner, or ‘Strong Heart’.” (soompi) Current Star King episodes ‘have contestants come from all over the world to showcase their talents in front of a panel of celebrities.

However, BoA told Newsen in a recent interview that she is not planning to participate in variety shows, and instead, will focus solely on performing. According to BoA, “The reason is because I don’t have the confidence to give laughter if I appear on variety shows. The BoA that the masses want is not the BoA on variety shows but the BoA who presents a good performance. It is priority that I work on showing good performances.”

But do not fear! At the end of the interview, BoA said the following:

“Instead of doing variety, I will work hard on Twitter. I will communicate with fans through Twitter.”

We suspected that SM Entertainment would make BoA’s Hurricane Venus available on iTunes since all SM artists that has released an album this year was already on iTunes. It seems our hunch was correct! So if, for some reason, you cannot order the album on YesAsia, DVD Heaven, gmarket, or whatever the reason, try iTunes! Don’t have a credit card? Buy an iTunes card at your local store.

The album itself is $9.99, but if you’d rather have certain tracks, those are $0.99 each. We do not know if the sales on iTunes will reflect towards any of the many charts in Korea.

Although many fan sites have been reporting about the recent image BoA posted on her twitter featuring her with well known choreographer, Rino Nakasone, I would like to clarify with BoAjjangers that Rino is NOT choreographing for BoA’s comeback. After retweeting BoA’s picture of them together, Rino posted on her twitter:

The playful images seem to be just that, playful. BoA and Rino enjoying one another’s company and doing what they love to do which is dancing.

Many BoA fans have been confused on the release date of BoA’s 6th Korean album, Hurricane Venus as there were two dates released. News sources have been saying that the album would be released on August 5th, while SM Entertainment has updated BoA’s Official Page with August 2nd stamped on the front page. Which is the actual release date?

August 2nd is the digital release, while August 5th is the physical release of Hurricane Venus.

In addition, two of the songs on the album, GAME and 옆사람 (Stand By) have been digitally released on July 28th. While 옆사람 (Stand By) has not yet entered the top 10 on any of the Korean daily music charts, GAME has been well-taken by music fans. As of July 30th, GAME is #1 (dosirak), #3 (soribada), #4 (monkey3), and #5 (melon). 옆사람 (Stand By) is #8 (dosirak), #17 (soribada), #25 (monkey3), and #64 (melon). BoA is already doing well on the charts with GAME, especially as it is not her title song.

Contrary to rumors of BoA’s first comeback stage being held on August 12th on MBC Music Core, SM Entertainment has announced she will be performing August 6th on KBS Music Bank. BoA will begin promotional activities for her big comeback one day after the release of her latest album, Hurricane Venus. The album’s cover has also finally been revealed after numerous teaser images over the past several weeks.

BoA’s dongsaengs, SHINee, who have just released their second full Korean album, Lucifer, will be among the artists competing against her during promotions. Lucifer has been very successful for SHINee, resting comfortably at the top 5 of several different Korean music charts. When asked about their sunbaenim’s comeback, they said:

“We are very excited and honoured to be able to promote in the same time period as BoA seonbaenim. We feel that we can learn a lot by being able to watch her performance from near. Even though until now we are not able to see BoA seonbaenim often, whenever we meet, she would give us encouragement. We have heard BoA seonbaenim’s new song and we really like it.” (sookyeong)

However, BoA isn’t the only one to make her comeback to the Korean scene after several years of inactivity! YG artist, Se7en, started his comeback this week on MNet Countdown and has already won the top spot on the show, after a three year hiatus since his last album. Like BoA, he also ventured into the U.S. market with his single “Girls ft. Lil’ Kim”. Who will top the charts by next week?

We posted earlier that BoA had gotten a personal twitter account and she’s been busy tweeting about her new album since! She recently tweeted a hint about her new album and one of the songs on it:

Many BoAjjangers were wondering whom BoA was referring to in her tweet. Well today we discovered that the ‘Person Beside’ BoA is actually the title of a song in her Korean comeback album.

Person Beside (옆사람), a ballad written by Kim DongRyul, and Game, will be revealed on July 28th through the sites Melon, Soribada, Dosirak, Bugs, among other digital music stores.

August 25th marks BoA’s 10th year anniversary since she debuted in her home country, South Korea, and she has been busily preparing for her comeback. As a present for her fans, BoA released the GAME music video on Sunday, July 25th at 10AM. But there is more to come! It’s been 5 years since BoA has released any kind of official album in Korea and her fans’ patience has finally paid off. Come August 5th, BoA will release Hurricane Venus, her 6th Korean album.

But that’s not all! Even in the midst of preparing for her Korean comeback, BoA has been flying back to Japan as well to promote her latest single, WOO WEEKEND. WOO WEEKEND will also be included on Disney’s On Ice 25th year anniversary album, which is slated for release at the same time as Hurricane Venus.

With activities in both countries, BoA is having it hard. BoA said in an interview to mu-mo.net: “After working hard at my job, I think it’s necessary to have some time to enjoy myself.” Yes, BoA! You have been working very hard to please your fans, so when all your projects are over, take a long rest to recover!

Back in May, we reported that BoA attended the Samsung conference in Seoul regarding 3D TVs with fellow SM peers Changmin and Yunho of TVXQ as well as Lee Soo Man, founder of SM Entertainment. Discussions and ideas about the possibility of shooting 3D music videos has come into reality with BoA’s title track music video “Hurricane Venus” for her Korean comeback album. Fellow label mate, SNSD, will also be producing a 3D music video with last year’s hit song “Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)” for their Japan debut. The video was shot by James Cameron’s “AVATAR” team and took place on July 18th to the 22nd. In addition, SM artists will have future music videos as well as concert recorded in 3D for release. So if you are an SM Town fan, expect to watch this year’s SM Town concert in 3D! SM will be the first company in Korea to release music videos in 3D.

BoA’s 6th Korean album, “Hurricane Venus”, is expected to be released on August 5th. However, the date posted on her Korean Website indicates that the album will be released on August 2nd. What could it be? While fans have guessed it to be an earlier album released date, others have pondered if it is the release date to her title music video, “Hurricane Venus”. Guess we’ll know next week!

While nothing has been confirmed, there are rumors that BoA will be appearing on MBC Music Core on August 12th. Could it be possibly for her first of many comeback performance? Stay tune to BoAjjang.com for more news on BoA!

BoA continues to tease us images after images as the countdown to her 6th Korean album, “Hurricane Venus”, release comes closer. The third teaser has been released via her Korean website. The vintage style is kept intact in this image and she is surrounded by tree branches as she sports a lacy mini white dress with black crossed leggings.

With BoA finally back in Korea after 5 years, news has been flooding in! BoA’s latest music video, “GAME”, was released through SM Entertainment’s youtube channel yesterday and has already garnered over 330,000 views! For confused BoA followers, “GAME” is NOT her main title track for her comeback! This video was released as a way for BoA to show her apprecation to the fans that have supported her for all these long years. So expect another music video for her title track, “Hurricane Venus” to be released sometimes in August.

A random fact for fans: “GAME” was produced by Metaoloz Productions. This means that this music video was produced by none other than BoA’s older brother, Soonwook Kwon. He has also produced other music videos in the past, such as Sori’s debut music video “Real Lips”.

News just keeps flooding in for us at BoAjjang! Thanks to BoAjjanger bokachu, we might have a title for BoA’s 6th Korean album. ‘Hurricane Venus’ is the name in question. BoA will be bringing a hurricane to the kpop world alright!

Along with names, SM Entertainment is throwing us so many dates, and we really don’t know what to do with them! After BoA’s official SMTown homepage was updated, a number of netizens are wondering what the date at the bottom might mean. “2010.08.02” or August 2nd of this year is being put into question.

I thought that August 5th was the release date for the album. Has SM changed their mind? Will it simply be a teaser for our ears instead of our eyes and the official album will drop on the 5th? I guess we’ll have to wait till the day arrives BoAjjangers.

Just yesterday we reported that BoA’s comeback date is set for the 5th of August. Well thanks to BoAjjanger, MOTOWAYohsixfive, Soompi, and Newsen we now have a date for BoA’s comeback music video. July 25th, just one month before BoA’s official 10 year anniversary. As we posted earlier, this MV is most likely to be directed in 3D by Joseph Khan. Khan also directed BoA’s English music video, “I did it for Love.” The music video will be available via BoA’s homepage, Auction, Nate and other sites.

Along with a date, we also get a name. BoA’s title song for her 6th Korean album will be called “Game”, a song composed by Hitchhiker. Hitchhiker, also known as Jinu, is the composer of the popular kpop song, Abracadabra, by Brown Eyed Girls. He’s also composed songs for f(x), SNSD, and Gil Hak Mi. Recently, he worked on Shinee’s new album, Lucifer, composing the song ‘Electric Heart’.

This is surprising new since reports of filming for the said music video were only reported on the 20th of this month. The crew over at SM entertainment must be working as fast as possible to get this highly anticipated music video on the inter-webs.
